MENLO PARK, Calif. – Facebook is trying a new tool. This tool is called “Memory Vault.” It lets people save their Facebook Stories privately. Stories normally disappear after 24 hours. The Memory Vault changes this. People can choose to keep specific Stories forever. These saved Stories go into a special, private collection.

Facebook is testing this feature now. Only some people can try it. The test group is small. This group uses Facebook on Apple phones. Facebook wants to see if people like the Memory Vault. They also want feedback on how it works.

The Memory Vault is simple. People see a new option when they post a Story. They can tap “Save to Memory Vault.” This saves the Story. Saved Stories are private. Only the person who posted them can see them later. They stay in the Vault unless the person deletes them. This is different from regular Facebook posts. It is also different from Stories that vanish.

Facebook says people want better ways to save moments. Stories are popular for sharing everyday things. But people often lose these moments after a day. The Memory Vault fixes this problem. It gives people control. They decide what to keep private.

A Facebook spokesperson explained the test. “People share important moments in Stories. These moments deserve saving. The Memory Vault test helps people keep these memories safe. It is private and easy. We want to learn from this test. We want to know if this feature is useful.” Facebook will watch how people use the Memory Vault. The company might change the feature based on feedback. They might offer it to more people later.
